Dining around Old Orange | Wednesday’s In the Know!
If your travels ever take you to Old Orange, walking distance to Chapman University in Orange, California, you won’t want to miss this week’s roundup of my top places to dine!
Having graduated and been a part of the varsity tennis team at Chapman University, as well as my sister, Old Orange holds a special place in my heart. From the antiques, history, architecture and stunning ramblers to the people, Old Orange is as charming as it gets.
Cuban: Felix’s Intercontinental Cafe
Some of my favorite memories took place tucked away in the far corner of the Circle at Felix’s Intercontinental Cafe. Still serving up some delicious bites and sips (their sangria is hands downs top notch!), it’s not only one of my favorite spots around the circle, it’s my favorite Cuban restaurant in all Southern California!
Ice Cream: A La Minute
When the Santa Anna winds come rolling and parched lips need refreshing, tuck into A La Minute for a sweet delicious scoop. Liquid nitrogen is all the rage, but A La Minute executes with precision and some top-notch combinations to leave you salivating over.
Breakfast: The Filling Station
Looking for the best breakfast spot around Chapman? Look no farther than my old stomping ground, The Filling Station! Still serving up the best breakfast around, and with a prominent location on the corner of Glassell and Maple, expect a line but it’s well worth the wait!
Pizza: The Pizza Press
My one complaint, is that I wish Pizza Press was around when I was at Chapman! Fresh pizza made to order with a whole slew of fixings to adorn, it’s a must destination! And if the food wasn’t the deciding factor, these folks behind the counter couldn’t be any nicer! P.S I hear their ice cream sandwiches are something to write home about…
Homemade Pie & Dessert: Pie Hole
When sweet tooth’s come knocking, there is no better place to be than with your face pressed against Pie Hole’s window display. With seasonal offerings to choose from, like Pumpkin pie come fall, you may just find yourself sampling through their entire lineup. P.S. when they ask if you want whip cream or ice cream to adorn, do as I did and go for both!
Regardless of your time in this fine community, I know you won’t be disappointed by the plethora of options to choose from as well as its small-town charm. And in between all your noshing, make sure you go cheer on our Panthers in our state of the art sports facilities!
