Don’t be Afraid to Ask for Help! | Wednesday’s In the Know
When hosting a party, or really any type of gathering, it’s ok and advised to ask for help! No one expects you to be super-human with super-powers and actually–most of the time I would hope–want to help! They just need direction and for you to ask!
Before the Party:
Need a few extra chairs? Ask your neighbor if you can borrow their fold ups that are tucked away under the tarp in the garage. Need a cooler, tables, linens, large garbage can, or punch container? Let’s hope you have a few neighbors! Need a wireless speaker, calligrapher for your table cards or someone to help man the bar, ask your friends! Need an extra hand before the party to help rotate casseroles, dips and sips from implementation to execution? Ask your friends, hopefully those that will actually show up early and know a thing or two when it comes to cooking…or simply put, is good at taking orders!
When hosting a party, it really is in the details! Don’t compromise on details simply because you don’t have something. Ask around and see who can help! Heck, you may just find yourself throwing the party of the year with the help of those neighbors and friends.
During a Party:
I don’t know about you, but when I go to someone’s house and ask if there is anything I can do, I really want them to say yes! It makes me feel helpful, useful and like I contributed to the occasion. It can be as minimal as, setting the table, opening the wine bottles, putting ice in the water pitcher, lighting the candles, finding a good play-station or simply taking people’s coats as they walk in. So, this all being said, when I come to your home and ask what I can do to help, will you please say yes?
All funnies aside, friends are our friends for a reason. They care about you and genuinely want to see you succeed. So, go ahead, take my advice and use that to your advantage by not being afraid to ask for help!
