Wednesday's In The Know: Maximizing Your Lemon and Limes Juicy Potential
Ever wonder how to squeeze out that last drop of juice from your limes and lemons? You know it’s in there, right? Let me help!
1. First and foremost, before slicing your citrus in half, gently press down and roll your lemon or lime on your countertop. This loosens the membranes and segments inside resulting in more juice!
2. Use a lemon or lime juicer (yellow for lemon, green for limes) and place the lemon or lime inside (counter intuitive – think about pushing the lemon or lime inside out). Close the handle, squeeze and watch that last ounce come pouring out (without seeds and pith!). Winner!
Now, before you toss that juiceless lemon or lime, think about putting them in your water pitcher or lemonade as the peel and pith still pack tremendous flavor, even minus that last ounce of juice! And, if your looking for a few ways in which to utilize all that freshly squeezed juice, I have a few recipes you may want to check out! From Classic Lemonade to my refreshingly sweet Peach Lemonade and Mint Lemonade (which is also terrific with rosemary or basil in place of the mint) and even a classic Margarita I have you covered!
