Thinking Outside the "Pie Dish"
As we near holiday baking season, I couldn’t think of a better time for the conversation around thinking outside of the box! Often we hear the phrase, “think outside the box” which absolutely applies when it comes to making a delicious pie crust prime for your favorite filling!
Graham cracker crust is a baking classic and however delicious it may be, it’s not your only option and therefore shouldn’t be!
Instead, I encourage you to “think outside the pie dish” and get creative. From gingersnap cookies, saltines, Oreos, lemon cookies and even animal crackers, your imagination is your only limitation!
Added to a food processor with melted butter (and no sugar in most cases since cookies already have so much), it not only makes for great conversation around your dessert table, but is absolutely delicious! Think pumpkin pie with a fall-centric gingersnap crust (coming to the recipe page at The Table Together the week of Thanksgiving), chocolate peanut butter pie nestled into an Oreo crust and lemon pie with a salty saltine crust. Now do I have your attention? Thought so!
