Throwback Thursday: My New Kitchen!
Almost 4 years ago, I moved to Newport Beach from Columbus, Ohio. My sister was getting her masters nearby and I was relocating. I tasked her and my mom with finding a 2-bedroom apartment that had a large kitchen. They settled on a wonderful apartment walking distance to the beach; I agreed site unseen. Now, how is moving from cornfields to beach for a change?
The first thing I got started on was the kitchen – a blank slate with all these great cabinets ready for filling. The kitchen had quite a bit of “character” with its yellow countertops and cabinets that maximized every nook and cranny. As I looked around, I remember thinking that this kitchen was going to be my studio for culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu as well as my test kitchen, office, and place of discovery.
Over the years, and hundreds of dishes, soups and sweets later, our kitchen has gotten great use and to this day brings back wonderful memories. To think of all the food that has come from its stovetop and the friends who have gathered around to enjoy it. What wonderful memories! To this day, I find myself in the kitchen everyday either making a quick egg scramble, French press or testing out a new recipe to share with all of you. The kitchen really is the heart of my home and a place where I find great comfort and joy.
Cheers to starting a new tradition around the table together!
