Classic Banana Split
Classic Banana Split
One of the most simplest and delicious desserts is one you might already have on hand! Scan your freezer for ice cream, scoop and layer on sliced bananas, adorn with hot fudge or caramel sauce and finish with a heaping dollop of freshly whipped whipping cream – and a cherry of course – and you have dessert on the table in seconds!
Yield: 2 servings
Oven: N/A
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: N/A
2 bananas, not overly ripe
4 scoops ice cream of your choice
hot fudge or caramel sauce, as desired
1/2 cup fresh whipping cream
2 cherries with stem
optional, toasted sliced almonds or nuts of your preference
Method:
1. In 2 shallow bowls, add banana slices facing up. Top each with 2 scoops of ice cream, a large dollop of whipping cream and hot fudge or caramel sauce drizzled across to finish.
2. Right before serving, add a cherry on top – literally and figuratively– and toasted nuts, if using.
Kitchen Note: Banana splits can get as fancy as your imagination will allow.
