The Ultimate Classic Margarita
The Ultimate Classic Margarita
Sometimes I wonder if my love for Mexican food is the actual food itself, or the margaritas. All joking aside, a classic margarita doesn’t take much to master, with the right fixings of course!
Yield: 2 servings
Oven: N/A
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: N/
Juice of 2 limes
Juice of 2 lemons
3-ounces tequila, best quality possible
1-ounce orange liqueur, like triple sec
1/2-ounce agave or simple syrup, more or less depending on desired sweetness
4 dashes orange bitters, optional
1 lime, cut into wedges for garnish
Salt, if rimming your glass – see Kitchen Note
Method:
1. In a large cocktail shaker, fill 3/4 full with large ice cubes. Add lime and lemon juice, tequila, orange liqueur, simple syrup, and orange bitters (if using). Secure the lid and shake until ice-cold, approximately 10 seconds.
2. In two 8-ounce serving glasses filled with ice, strain margarita mixture, garnish with a lime wedge and serve.
Kitchen Note: For a salted rim, add water to a rimmed plate. In a separate rimmed plate, add kosher salt. Place the empty glass upside down in the water ensuring the entire lip is covered in water. Transfer to the plate with the salt coating the entire lip in salt as it adheres to the water.
