Apple Bourbon Fall Harvest
Apple Bourbon Fall Harvest
Come fall when leaves turn that gorgeous amber hue and boots replace flip flops, I am ready to wrap myself in a cashmere throw and cuddle by the fire with a delicious fall inspired cocktail. This recipe signifies all things fall with apple cider and toasted pecan bitters. All you need is a roaring fire and company to enjoy one with!
Yield: 2 servings
Oven: N/A
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: N/A
1 small orange, quartered
4-ounces bourbon, 100 proof like Knobb Creek
1/2-ounce simple syrup – see kitchen note
4 dashes toasted pecan bitters
4-ounces unfiltered apple juice, like Martinelli’s
Optional garnish:
Ground all-spice or cinnamon
Method:
1. In a cocktail shaker, add orange segments and muddle until crushed and juices are released. Add bourbon, simple syrup, pecan bitters, apple juice and lots of ice. Secure the lid and shake until ice cold.
2. Fill two lowball glasses with ice and using a strainer, evenly divide mixture into both glasses. If garnishing, lightly dust with all-spice or cinnamon right before serving.
Kitchen Note: To make your own simple syrup, place equal parts granulated sugar and water in a small saucepan and allow to simmer while occasionally stirring until sugar has dissolved. For this recipe, 1/8 cup would be sufficient with a little leftover.
