Almond Date Smoothie
After – or even before – my spinning class, I crave a protein packed smoothie with a little sweetness to it. This smoothie uses dates for a natural sweetness and almond milk and butter for a full dose of protein. Sometimes I get “fancy” and add a frozen banana or even a little chocolate, but isn’t that what makes a smoothie so fantastic?

1/3 cup low-fat Greek or plain yogurt
1/3 cup almond milk, more or less depending on desired consistency
1 tablespoon almond butter
5 pitted Medjool dates
1 cup ice, more or less depending on desired consistency
Method:
1. In a blender, like my personal favorite Vitamix, add yogurt, almond milk, almond butter, dates, and ice. Blend on high until smooth. Add more or less almond milk or ice depending on desired consistency.
Kitchen Note: For less sweetness, consider using half the amount of dates.
